Girl set on fire after failed attempt to rape

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly set on fire by four boys in Ghaziabad after they failed to rape her, police said.

Imrana, a resident of Village Tyodi, 25 km from Ghaziabad, was at home along with her sister when the accused entered their house and tried to rape her, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kamal Kishor Asthana said.

When the girl raised an alarm, the boys poured kerosene on the girl and set her afire, he said.

The neigbours took Imrana to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, he said, adding a case has been registered against the accused.
