HC upholds capital punishment to rape and murder convict

The division bench of Bombay High Court upheld the death sentence to a convict of rape and murder of a minor girl.

Rajendra Pralhad Wasnik (35), with a criminal background, was awarded capital punishment by district and sessions court, Amravati in September 2008 for raping and killing her minor niece on April 4, 2007 in Amravati.

A division bench of Justice Ambadas Joshi and R C Chavan hearing Wasnik's plea upheld the death sentence awarded to him.
